at the center of the storm

Scandals are more likely in liberal communities. Intereting thesis, Mr. Santorum:

“Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture,” Santorum wrote in a July 12, 2002 article for the Web site Catholic Online. “When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.”

Let’s test this theory with some anecdotal evidence and see if it is worth exploring more rigorously.

Scandals:
Rodney King Beating… Los Angeles, CA
Enron… Houston, TX
Worldcom… Clinton, Miss
Columbine… Littleton, CO
Martin Luther King Assassination… Memphis, TN
Jimmy Swaggart’s Infidelity… Baton Rouge, LA
Robert Tilton Throwing Away Prayer Requests and Keeping the Money… Dallas, TX
Bishop Brendan Comiskey Sex Abuse Cover Up Scandal… Ferns, Ireland
Norbertine Order Abbey Coverup of Father Smyth’s 40 years of Pedophilia… Ireland

I could go on, but I think we have enough to start our analysis.

If Senator Santorum’s theory is correct, then most, if not all of these cities must have been at the center of a liberal storm. Dallas, Houston, Clinton, Littleton, Ireland, hmmmmm… what do you think? LA for sure.

And of course there are all of these scandals in Washington. This is a liberal city. That must be why all those political scandals happened. The system made them do it. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Seems only yesterday when it was the liberals who blamed the sytem for bad people and the conservatives who called for personal responsibility. Times have changed.

Though Senator Kennedy drew attention to these comments 3 years after they were written, Santorum said he stills stands by them. His hindsight might be 20/100.
