Fox in the Henhouse
I was reading
Sacha Baron Cohen Gleefully Pushes All the Wrong Buttons in ‘Borat’ in the New York Times and came across this this tidbit, “‘Borat’ was to some extent made outside the Hollywood system. Fox kept the film off its production list and created a separate company, One America, to be the nominal producer.”
Fox created a company called One America (not “One America” to produce this movie, which features a Jewish actor playing an ambiguously Muslim/Orthodix Christian Khazakstanian. But isn’t “One America” the name of John Edward’s Committee?
And isn’t Fox Rupert Murdoch, who brings us Fox Sunday News, Britt Hume, and Bart Simpson… well Bart is an anomaly that Murdoch probably tries to ignore. But the idea that Fox is appropriating Edwards’ brand just seems wrong to me.
